I've always been in awe of how our food grows and how beautiful it can be out in the fields. Many foods actually start as flowers so the relationship of food and flowers is a very close one and I find so many similarities between food and flowers when photographing them.

I use various digital cameras and various lenses depending on where I am shooting (out in the field or in the studio) and how close up I need to get. Sometimes I use natural light and other times I will use artificial lights. If it's a beautiful day outside, I'll use natural light for some floral still lifes. If I am creating a Mini Foodscape, then I always use artificial light as those sets take a long time to build and I need to have consistent light.

I've been a commercial food photographer for more than 30 years. Being from Delaware, I moved to CA and I got my second photography degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and then opened my first studio in Glendale California, then moved studios to Marina Del Rey, CA for over 20 years. I've flown all over the country shooting for all sorts of brands, big and small while also doing my fine art work on the side.

I've won several photography awards starting from the age of 16. I've always been guest lecturing at colleges and teaching workshops about photography and the business of photography so in 2010 I started the Food Photography to blog and then in 2016 I created the Food Photography Club, a membership site with courses, videos and content teaching foodies and photographers how to improve their food photography and the business of food photography.I run a large Facebook group called Food Photography Club with over 6000 members as well.Being an only child and have aging parents I knew I would eventually have to move back East to Delaware to take care of them and that happened in 2020. So that's where my studio is now.
